A Vision of Possibilities


The Torres Foundation invites you to our Career and Technology seminar for persons with disabilities.


The focus will be on showcasing the high levels of functionality, independence, and achievement that can be attained by persons with disabilities in competitive employment and the assistive technology that makes it possible.


The Keynote speaker for the seminar will be Mark Rew, Team Leader of the Blind and Low Vision Group at the U.S. Department of Defense Computer Accommodations Program.


He will discuss the U.S. Federal program model for accommodating persons with disabilities in the workplace.


Other features of the seminar will include:


  • Live demonstrations of techniques that enable people who are blind to perform high-tech jobs

  • A Panel discussion on strategies for the successful employment of persons with disabilities

  • A presentation on making websites, PDF and other electronic documents accessible for people who are blind

  • The Presentation of an Assistive Technology accommodations for the workplace proposal to be presented to the government

  • The unveiling of the Foundation’s Career and Technology posters

  • A dress for success fashion contest for persons with disabilities. Grand prize $1,000.00.

  • The latest solutions in cutting edge assistive technology for persons with disabilities will be on exhibit

  • There will be technology giveaways and door prizes. Refreshments will be served
